MK | Spring 2024 Mid-term Report

Mingyo Chu - Thursday, April 25, 2024
 General

This spring semester, n-Lingual began our activities with 28 members including 4 Executive members, 5 Props, and 19 Supporters.

With our language program, we warmly welcomed 52 mentees of students, faculty, and staff. Our language program offers 3 languages, English, Korean, and Spanish. Our office was gratefully allocated to us starting this semester. Located at G713, our office is home to our textbooks and a learning hub for our Supporters to have their sessions. Among these resources are textbooks such as <사랑해요 한국어 1,2,3> for Korean learners, and <Nuevo Español En Marcha 1> for Spanish learners. Our language program not only helps enhance one’s language abilities and helps them gain more confidence in speaking, but also helps make new friendships and cultivate memories along the way.

On March 7th, we held our orientation for our Props and Supporters. Not only was this an informative session, but it was also one where Props and Supporters got to know each other better.

On April 18th, we held our midsemester meeting with our Supporters. This meeting allowed Supporters of the same language to share their experiences as a Supporter so far. They shared how they conducted their sessions and shared useful tips they found out along the way.

Currently, we have conducted our first event of the semester, the Get Connected Event. The Get Connected Event was where students from various backgrounds got together and was the perfect place to make new friends from diverse cultures.

Looking ahead, we are planning our annual Teacher’s Day event and our participation in Mason Korea’s annual festival, Mason Day. Additionally, we are working on a collaboration with The Voice, Mason Korea’s official student-run English newspaper outlet.

n-Lingual looks forward to hosting many more events in the future, and we hope everyone will anticipate the forthcoming events scheduled for the rest of this semester!
